Gives me pure joy and excitement to enjoy and learn from great films. In these recent years Korean films have shown the world it's unique way of storytelling in different genres. Which grew fans and other film lovers to gain more interest in different film that were created in South Korea.

Korean films and TV have always tackled different genres as much as they could. Even in the posters above there are Western, Sci-fi, Horror, Thriller and etc. However, it is hard to find a film in Korea where the story takes place in the far far future. Most of the Korean films tend to concentrate their story's background in the past or the present. Which led me to think of a sci-fi genre about South Korea in the far future using the an old Korean tale of "Jeon Woo Chi".
Some could argue that there was a film directed by a Korean Director BongJoon Ho was about the future. Yes it was directed by a Korean director but the production was from Hollywood. Using Western actors. The film "SnowPiercer" does have Korean actors in it as well but the adaption of the story is from a French Comic book. Which does not have any idea of South Korea in it.
Using Seoul as their background was also used in the film "Cloud Atlas" directed by Tom Tykwer, Lana Wachowski, Lily Wachowski. However, it again was a western adaption of Seoul. To be honest you can not find any elements that repents the place to be even Seoul but the titles that tell you so or from the dialogues.
It is hard to find any films that represents Seoul in the future with elements that could help understand it is Korea. Which is why I wanted to create a world using the tools of VFX. A future look of Seoul with representations of Korea or elements to help audiences to recognize and make a difference from other Sci-fi genres, such as Blade Runner (set in US) , District 9 (set in South Africa). Each of those films had their unique visuals to help audience understand where the location could be without having to directly tell them.
But why use the story of "Jeon WooChi". It is because it is a traditional Korean tale that would help emphasize the element of the film to be more Korean. The story was also been used in Korean film and Tv show. However, it was in the past and the present, never was about the future of the tale of Jeon WooChi. Also, the tale of Jeon WooChi could be called the Eastern version of Robin Hood, taking from the rich and giving to the poor. By adapting a heroic character that has the similar idea it would help audiences outside of Korea to understand the story faster without having to learn the full history from it.
